Each of our products is custom made by hand using all natural materials. As a result colour and texture variations may occur and are considered natural and valued qualities. Non-structural hairline cracks, or crackelature, are also possible and are not seen as a defect.

Our products are sealed with the latest food grade sealers (V.O.C. free) and finest quality Brazilian Carnauba Wax to protect them from moisture and stains. A second coat of wax should be applied two months after installation and further coats at least every six months thereafter to maintain optimum protection. Periodic waxing will protect against stains from general use. If the surface is cut, scrapped or damaged sealer and wax should be re-applied locally. Oils and acidic spills should be wiped up as soon as possible. Special countertop polish is available for purchase and is used to prolong the life of the wax finish.

Your piece can be cleaned with mild dish soap and water. Heavy abrasives, bleach, vinegar and ammonia cleaners should be avoided.

Rubber or felt feet pads are suggested for the bottom of objects that remain on the countertop. Unglazed ceramics and terracotta compete with the concrete for residual moisture and can discolour the surface if left.

Hot objects can discolour the wax surface and cutting directly on the surface will also damage the wax. (Not to mention ruin your knives!)
Rings can be caused by oils in particular especially" if forced in by the weight of bottles and jars - wiping up oils will prevent this.

Stains are possible, and the wear of your piece contributes to its uniqueness. All of our products can be refinished and this is recommended every few years. Stains can also be spot treated.
